Good disc health requires activity, sound nutrition and good posture. When any of these are imbalanced, damage can occur and as professionals we aim to treat the cause by addressing the contributing variable(s).

Physio therapuetic spinal care device close upTraction, strengthening exercises and manipulation techniques are all used by different therapists as a means to ease compression and increase support in the spine.

The problem is that traction lacks effectiveness and is non specific whilst the success of manipulation depends on the skill of the practitioner and the natural limits of the strength of our hands. Exercise in isolation may not be enough and whilst exercise is essential for strength and flexibility, not every patient is able to do the exercises because of their pain.

IDD Therapy spinal decompression takes the principles we have been following and uses technology to achieve the objectives. IDD Therapy is a treatment focussed by angles at the targeted level to distract vertebrae surrounding a given disc, lumbar or cervical. It also includes a unique computer controlled oscillation feature to mobilise the facet joints.

The forces used during IDD Therapy to create a pure vertical distraction are far greater than can be applied manually or comfortably by traditional mechanical devices,(the force is built up to half body weight plus 20lbs, applied at a precise angle).  As the treatment is computer controlled, this allows for oscillation to be incorporated, so awkward and imprecise to apply manually and until now impossible to deliver mechanically.

When used in conjunction with massage, TENS, exercise and hot and cold therapy, we believe that IDD Therapy spinal decompression promotes the optimal environment to improve disc health and to re-educate and strengthen supporting soft tissues.
